So I first bought an xl and it fit fine but for open front I want a lot of overlap for warmth. I put my hands in my pockets and keep the overlap closed that way. Then I bought a 2nd one as a gift and thought I will go up to a 1x and get another for myself. Still not enough! So I bought a 4th in 3x size and finally got the extra coat overlap I wanted. But that's okay cause I love this soft , cozy fleecy blanket like coat. I'm keeping them all too.
